DBT-Informed Skills Work
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills work is a structured, skills-based approach to therapy that helps individuals build greater emotional stability, distress tolerance, and effectiveness in relationships. It is based on the idea that intense emotions and relational difficulties can be managed more effectively by learning practical strategies rather than relying on avoidance or impulsive reactions. Clients are taught skills in areas such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. The goal is not to eliminate emotional intensity, but to increase the ability to navigate it in ways that reduce suffering and support more balanced, intentional responses in daily life.
